When I first started using cloth diapers I had no idea what I was looking for. Even after getting a trial pack of all different types, my husband and I still weren't sure which ones we liked best. So, we kept them all and added a few others here and there. After a couple months of cloth diapering, I started noticing that there were a few diapers we'd always grab. One of those was our Ecobumz Supreme Stuffable AIO...
I loved it for the design, color, and fabrics used and my husband loved the diaper's pure simplicity. The first thing most people notice is the shiny outside of the diaper. It almost looked plasticy so I was a little concerned with that at first. Since my son has sensitive skin, I wasn't sure if the material would rub against and irritate his chubby little legs. As soon as I received the diaper, I knew I didn't have to worry. The material is not plastic feeling at all and is actually very smooth and soft. The seams around the legs are stitched and turned without any topstitching or serging, so there are no rough edges to rub against the legs.
The inside of the diaper is made with extremely soft organic bamboo velour. It's so super soft and silky. I still 'pet' the diapers when they are freshly clean, I can't help it! I usually line dry my diapers and the velour can feel a little stiff when they first dry, but by the time I'm done stuffing and folding them the bamboo is back to its luxurious silky smooth texture. Another wonderful thing about the Ecobumz Supreme Stuffable AIO is that the dry time is about the same as pocket diapers. I figured the organic cotton soaker would take just as long to dry as the other AIOs I have, but I was proven wrong.
The first two Ecobumz I bought had hook & loop (Aplix) closures, but the diapers didn't have the tabs on the inside to fold the Aplix over like most other diapers do. They were intentionally made this way so the inside of the diaper has maximum exposure when being washed. You are supposed to turn the diaper and attach the tabs inside out. I'm not sure if it's the way I attach the Aplix or if it's just stronger than some other diapers, but I haven't had the diaper chain problem with these diapers.
Another great attribute of these diapers is the pocket for the optional insert. The diaper itself is very absorbent with the organic bamboo velour and the organic cotton soaker. When you add the insert, it makes a wonderful nighttime diaper as well.
By the way, did you notice all the organic and natural materials this diaper is made with?? I've recently been having some issues with stinky diapers. Turns out, it can be hard to get all the bacteria out of microfiber so they might not really be clean. Natural fibers, on the other hand, are easier to clean and don't hold onto the bacteria like microfiber so there's less stink issues. Our Ecobumz diapers are some of the few diapers that didn't have that ammonia smell. Although, I didn't realize there was a correlation between the natural fibers and lack of smell until I started doing some research on how to get the ammonia smell out of my diapers.
I have had no problems with these diapers leaking or wicking, but you do have to make sure there is no bamboo velour sticking out of the diaper. If it is, there's a chance that any moisture will wick onto your child's clothes, or bed.
