WAHM Wednesday: Danielle from Crazy Colorful Wools

Tell us about your business:
Crazy Colorful Wools is the home of awesome wool dryer balls. While I specialize in wool dryer balls, I also offer yummy wool felted soaps as well. CCW was started a few months ago when I became a SAHM and wanted to provide an awesome eco-friendly product everyone could use and love.

Wool Dryer Balls

What makes your business fabulous?
What is more fabulous than saving money? Adding in just a few dryer balls to each load of laundry can save you money each time you do a load. Plus, I offer a wide variety of scents to make your laundry smell delicious!

Why did you become a WAHM?
My son was born almost a year ago and I decided with my husband to become a SAHM. As my son got older and became more independent and more on a schedule I realized that I could be doing something awesome and productive with my time. I talked many nights with my husband about starting up an Etsy shop by making wool dryer balls. He backed me 100% and off I went.

How do you find the time?
Work time has become my son's nap time during the days. When my husband comes home from work, my work day officially begins and I concentrate on getting more balls done. I also work feverishly over the weekends since I have an extra pair of hands helping me with my son.

Any tips for other WAHMs?
Felted Soap

If you want to become a WAHM, do it! I was so hesitant on starting up my shop with a million questions floating around in my head. I love being able to stay home with my son while making a little money on the side. Also, network as much as you can. Offer giveaways and discounts and market your products to as many different people as you can.

Which of your products is your favorite?
I love making my Crazy wool dryer balls. I love throwing different colors together and seeing what comes out when they are done felting. I love the array of colors that I end up sending out to my customers and I hope they are as happy with them as I am.

Any specials or giveaways we should know about?
Always check my Facebook for current giveaways or specials since they are always changing. For I Heart Fluff fans, use the code  "FLUFF" for 15% off your order.

WAHM Wednesday: Jessica from The Littlest Forest

Tell us about your business:
I started The Littlest Forest in 2009 when my son was born. I wanted to make an organic and affordable fitted diaper and wool cover combo because some organic fitteds and wool are way out of my price range. I also wanted to make some diapers in fun prints that were modern and cute in a not too cutesy way.

Newborn Starter Set
What makes your business fabulous?
The materials that are used and the love that is put into making each product makes my business fabulous! I carefully hand pick all materials so I can provide the best organic cotton and bamboo fleece, knit prints, and organic merino wool to my customers. It's just me, myself, and I making these things and each item is carefully made with love. I love cloth diapering, and sewing is my passion, so you can be assured you're getting quality goods.

Why did you become a WAHM?

I wanted to stay home with my son so I could watch him grow and help him learn. Since I am a single mother I need some kind of income, so becoming a WAHM was the best choice for me. If I worked out of my house most of my money would go to day care and I would never get to see my son, so for me this is a win win.

How do you find the time?

It's hard! I generally do most of my work after my son is asleep. Luckily his dad is a big part of his life, so Eli sleeps there a few nights a week, which gives me some uninterrupted time to get some work done. I don't get much sleep, but it's worth it!

Organic Fitted Diaper

Any tips for other WAHMs?
Make a schedule and stick to it! I really need to take my own advice on this one. It makes dividing your time between child, work, house, and down time a lot easier. And don't overwork yourself! Being at home all the time can make you stir crazy, so take a break and get out of the house when you need to.

Out of all the products you make, which one is your favorite?

Can I say all of them? :) I really am in love with my organic fitted diapers. They are so soft and super absorbent. I let my son run around in just a fitted a lot during the day and we've never had any problems. Plus the prints are so darn cute, you don't always want to cover them up!

Any specials or giveaways we should know about?
I Heart Fluff fans can use code iheart15 for 15% off their purchase at http://lepetitowlet.etsy.com until June 15th!

WAHM Wednesday - Erin from Baby Frills

Tell us about your business:

Baby Frills is my WAHM business that sells everything cute, frilly and fun for infants and toddlers. Scruffle Legs are the signature of Baby Frills, but keep coming back as I expand to include other homemade and personalized items for my kids and yours! Watch for other customs to become available at http://www.etsy.com/shop/BabyFrills!

What makes your business fabulous?

When my fourth was born, I decided to be wild and cloth diaper. What has made it easier is leg warmers. I didn't have enough money to spring for a bunch of top name leg warmers, so I started making my own. And, I love them. So do my other kids and they have added their input too. I think that makes it original as my 5 year old daughter loves everything frilly.

One day she walked in to where I was sewing and asked if I was making more "scruffles." Of course she meant "ruffles" but the name was born!

White Rugby Striped Scruffle Leg Warmers
Scruffles

Why did you become a WAHM?

I love crafting. I still scrapbook, but that has gone digital so I felt I needed to do something else hands on. What better way to feed my urge to make, than to make for others!

Faux Fur Leg Warmers - How cute are these???

How do you find the time?

Good question! I find that time is a relative term these days. I have four kids aged 6 and under. I also homeschool the older two. Finding time for anything is hard, but MAKING time is a different matter. You need to MAKE time for the things that are a must in your life.

Any tips for other WAHMs?

Maybe one or two tips! Make sure you love what you do and that you are prepared to invest in an idea. It adds up!

LOVE the Owls!!!

Out of all the products you make/sell, which one is your favorite?

I love my Scruffle Leg and Onesie/Top combo. It is just so cute on the little ones and there are so many custom combinations.

Any specials or giveaways we should know about?

Baby Frills is now on Facebook! Watch for more information on giveaways in the near future.

What makes your business fabulous?

Green Baby Clothing Company is fabulous firstly because we have super cute Earth friendly items but ALSO because it combines the talent of seven Moms who bring their talents to Green Baby!

Why did you become a WAHM?

I became a WAHM so I wouldn't have to go back to the corporate world after having my first baby in 2007 :)

How do you find the time?

Most of the work happens "after hours" and when I happen to luck out on getting both kids to nap at the same time!!

Any tips for other WAHMs?

WAHM Wednesday: Tasha from KAEL & KAED

Eliminating tacky baby accessories one baby at a time. Ha! That tagline alone makes me want to buy from KAEL&KAED trendy handmade (baby) things! You can get some super cute toy/sophie/sippy straps, paci/soother clips, and blanket clips to help keep those baby items within reach and not thrown a few yards out of the stroller! They've also recently developed an organic line of products made with 100% Organic fabric and 100% Organic thread.

You can find KAEL&KAED on Facebook or at their Etsy store.

Tasha, owner and brilliant mastermind behind KAEL&KAED was nice enough to sit down and answer a few questions for us...

Tell us about your business:

KAEL&KAED started June of this year. I've always been an ambitious crafty person...so I decided to embark on a new journey..sewing. I had never really sewn before, but I thought I would give it a try. I was in love with sewing and, more importantly, fabric instantly!! I tried a couple ideas, then decided to sew something that I could use. I decided I would put an end to playing 52-pick-up with my toddler's sippy cups and toys, especially since we just had our 2nd boy this past May...so sippy/toy/snack leashes it was!! I then decided binki clips and blanket/nursing clips would be a good match! Watch out for some new products coming soon...I've got some great ideas in the works :) !! http://www.kaelkaed.etsy.com/

What makes your business fabulous?
The ability to customize your sippy leash, binki clip or blanket/nursing clips with the fabric of your choice as well as the matching snap color!! And, well, all of the awesome fabric choices (I like to think I have good taste :))!!

Why did you become a WAHM?
I just wanted to find a hobby that could bring in a lil extra dough...and have fun doing it...know what I mean? Being creative is so much fun...my boys motivate me to think of new ideas everyday!!

How do you find the time?
Well, as most of you know, "me time" is really hard to come by for anyone let alone moms. I love working on KAEL& KAED every second I can find, which some days is some, but most of the time not so much. As much as I love sewing and creating, being a mom comes first!!

Any tips for other WAHMs?
Love what you create and be as creative as you can. From your ideas to your final packaging, the love and dedication you put into your products will definitely show!

Out of all the products you make, which one is your favorite?
I would have to say the sippy/toy leashes are my all-time fav!!! They definitely come in handy, especially when out in the stroller! They've been our best seller so far! Who doesn't want to stop playing fetch with their babies????

Any specials or giveaways we should know about?
We have 2 reviews/giveaways going on right now...

WAHM Wednesday: Audrey from ABC: Audrey's Baby Creations

Audrey is the fantastic WAHM behind ABC: Audrey's Baby Creations. I was first introduced to her shop during our 1000 fans celebration on I Heart Fluff. Audrey was gracious enough to donate one of her adorable burp cloths and a $5 store credit to the celebration. If you have a little girl, her shop is a must for all the super cute bows and tutus. Don't have a girl? Well, you can also get car seat canopies, security blankets, toy/pacifier holders, plus so much more!

Ladybug Clippies

I asked Audrey to tell us a little bit more about herself and ABC: Audrey's Baby Creations:
"I am 23 years old. I have been married for 3 years and we have one little girl, Madalyn, who turns 'the big ONE' on Friday! I graduated in May 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. I am currently enjoying being a stay at home mom. :) Madalyn was/is my inspiration behind all of my crafts. I enjoy this hobby and it helps bring in a little money, with my husband in his 2nd year of medical school. This is something I can continue to do no matter where we go. We won't be settled down anywhere for a while. Once medical school is over, my husband will owe the Air Force 4 years, as they are paying for his school. I don't always enjoy being a medical student/military wife, but I do appreciate all of his hard work!"
Pumpkin Clip - Perfect for Halloween!

"I specialize in making hair bows (of all kinds), boutique style wipes cases, custom tutus, burp cloths, security blankets, pacifer clips, car seat canopies, and more! I started making all of my creations about 7 months ago, but I enjoy doing it, and don't sell anything I wouldn't be proud to have my child wear/accessorize with. :)"

WAHM Wednesday: Dixie from Pixie Fluff

One Size Pixie Fluff Cloth Diaper

I am so excited to introduce Dixie, owner of Pixie Fluff, as this week's featured WAHM. I actually just received one of her diapers and I love it already!  I'll let Dixie tell you a little bit about herself before I start gushing about her diapers. :)

"I am a stay at home mom of 3 kids under 5 and a great stepson who taught me how to take care of them. I have cloth diapered since my 5 year old was a baby. Right now, the youngest two kids are in diapers . One is three months old, the other is two years old. I started making diapers while I was pregnant with the youngest, and now I am making diapers for her and for my two year old who is outgrowing all of his. I love it, so I want to make diapers for everyone! I have been breastfeeding for almost five years with only a few months breaks between kids, so I wanted to make nursing covers to make it easier to feed my babies on the go... I love my nursing covers because they are so much bigger than most of them I have seen, and allow more modesty and more confidence!"

Pixie Fluff Nursing Cover

I just want to share a couple pics of our Pixie Fluff diaper so you can see how wonderful it is!

The inside is so soft and has gussets (great for keeping any poo in)...

I love the fact that there are more than just a couple size settings. This is truly a one size diaper that will last from newborn into the toddler years.

On smallest setting

Make sure to visit Pixie Fluff's facebook page and the Pixie Fluff store on Clothbaby.org to learn more about her products!

Thanks Dixie, for being this week's featured WAHM Wednesday mama!! Be sure to grab this button when you get a chance. <3

WAHM Wednesday: Erin from Wooltopia

Honestly, before cloth diapering, I didn't even know wool dryer balls existed! I've seen the plastic ones, but I really had no desire to use them in my dryer. Of course, I used the tennis ball trick every now and then when I had one of my big comforters in the dryer. But, I never realized how awesome dryer balls could be until just recently. Did you know that by using 3 or 4 dryer balls, you can cut your drying time by 25%? Hmm...saving energy and reducing static clean without any nasty chemicals...why wouldn't you use wool dryer balls? Plus, your clothes can smell super yummy when you use scented balls. (Okay, who else just giggled a little?)

I asked Erin to tell me a little bit about herself and why she decided to start Wooltopia:

"As a cloth diapering mother, I'd been wanting something to soften my clothes without using harsh chemicals. I had heard about dryer balls, but only the plastic ones, and then only negative reviews. When I heard about wool dryer balls I was immediately interested. My mom raised me on the motto "I can make that myself!", so I set off to the craft store. I tried a lot of different methods and different wools before finally settling on our current wool.

Since then, I found that not many people know about dryer balls, or they don't really know the benefits. I love having the opportunity to spread the word about something so eco-friendly and something that helps people save money.

With 2 young boys at home, my work-at-home opportunities are a bit limited. But with dryer balls, I can make them anytime and anywhere. And I can sell a product that I use and believe in. I've always said that I'm an awful salesperson. But when the product sells itself you don't have to be a good salesperson!"

Erin is offering some fantastic specials right now at Wooltopia. Until July 31st, you can get free shipping with the code FREESHIP. She's also offering free scents until July 31st. Just let her know what free scent you'd like in the comments section of your order.

Make sure to like her Facebook page and keep an eye out for a whole new lineup of colors and scents and other specials that will be coming out soon!

Thanks Erin for being this week's WAHM! Make sure to grab the WAHM Wednesday button when you get a chance. :)

WAHM Wednesday: CC Bums

As a WAHM myself, I am always on the lookout for awesome products made by other moms. The best eco-friendly, made in the USA products I have found have all come from WAHMs that I found on Hyenacart.com, Etsy.com, and Facebook. That’s why I am starting WAHM Wednesdays on The Cloth Chronicles. Each week, I will be featuring a WAHM's products and business.

Our very first WAHM Wednesday’s featured mama is Cami from CC Bums. She posted a link to her business on the I Heart Fluff Facebook fan page and I was blown away! She makes diapers, mama cloth, teethers, toys, covers, wipes, bibs, wet bags…and I’m sure I’m still missing a few! She even has a layaway option!

CC Bums AIO Diaper

Here’s a little more about Cami and CC Bums:

Cami and her family first decided to start cloth diapering to save money. Like many of us ‘newbies’ the only cloth they knew about was Gerber prefolds, pins and plastic pants. A friend then introduced Cami to a site called Diaperswappers.com and she learned there were SO many options that she had no idea about! Soon after, Cami met Michelle, thanks to a flannel Mickey Mouse prefold she had made from an old receiving blanket. This sparked a great friendship, and Michelle introduced her to the world of t-shirt prefolds. This was the beginning of Cami’s upcycling journey.

CC Bums Liimited Edition Diaper

She started making her own cotton pocket diapers using the RRP (Rita's Rump Pocket) pattern and has now customized the pattern for her own use and to create diapers for others. On May 15, 2009, She opened shop as CC Bums (Cami's Courts Bums)… starting only with diapers, mama cloth and family cloth. She has since added a LOT to her line of products, and constantly gets requests for custom items that she doesn’t currently stock, such as a Tinkerbell fleece dress and velour/cotton terrycloth kitchen towels.

CC Bums Snowman Toys

You can find the complete store here on Facebook. There's also a MySpace page with samples and ordering details. You can also visit her blog, Random Thoughts by Cami.

CC Bums Mama Cloth

In Cami’s own words,

“I am SO enjoying this business and we now use fleece all in one's and pockets on a daily basis. We are a total cloth diaper family, and we use SO many of the products I make. We are officially… CRUNCHY. :) lol.

I can't wait to see what God has in store for our future with this business. So far it has only been amazing. You can always contact me directly for anything too… I'm more than willing to help in any way I can to stretch your dollar and create a better lifestyle for you and the earth.”

I want to give a big thanks to Cami for being this week's featured WAHM! Cami, make sure to grab the WAHM Wednesday button for your blog!
